A touch of shine and volume to the lips with gloss

Lip gloss is a makeup product that adds shine to the lips, creating a natural, glossy effect on our smile. The main difference between lipstick and lip gloss is the visual appearance it provides. Lipsticks are thicker and more covering, while glosses provide a touch of shine to the lips and a very subtle tint.

Lip gloss , also known as lip gloss, was first introduced in 1930 by the Max Factor company, and was marketed as X-Rated in 1932. More than 40 years later, the first flavored lip gloss appeared in 1973.

Gloss properties

Lip gloss provides extra volume to the lips upon application thanks to its glossy finish, creating a visually fuller appearance. Plus, thanks to its texture, it has highly moisturizing properties to keep lips comfortable and maintain their elasticity.

We can classify lip glosses into two large groups:

• Transparent glosses , which only add volume and shine to the lips.
• Tinted glosses , which apart from giving shine and volume, provide a soft veil of colour.

Lip glosses feel soft and non-sticky. They also provide more moisture than conventional lipstick. Their only drawback is that they don't last long, and we'll need to reapply them for a longer-lasting effect.

When choosing the right gloss , we must take into account our skin tone. If it's light, we recommend using cool tones. On the other hand, if we have a tanned skin tone, warm tones are best.

Applying gloss correctly

The first step is to choose the lip gloss that best suits our style for each occasion. It's important to make sure it provides hydration, contains sun protection, and lasts long enough. You can also continue using your regular lipstick and complement it with a clear gloss.

Before applying lip gloss , we must make sure our lips are free of impurities and dead skin. The best way to achieve this is through exfoliation, which helps prevent dryness and remove dead cells. Once this step is complete, the lip balm provides the necessary hydration for perfect, soft lips.

Lip glosses can be used with any type of makeup. They provide softness and shine that flatters everything from the most natural to the most sophisticated looks. They can be applied alone or over already made-up lips to add a succulent touch.

A highly recommended trick is to apply lip gloss only to the center of your lips, as it will give a visually fuller effect. To maintain the lip gloss's color, you'll need to touch up your lips periodically, as it doesn't last as long.
